AAIDD Wisconsin is proud to announce our 2020 scholarship winners who have demonstrated excellence in academic achievement and commitment to improving the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
My name is Marisa Skajewski, I just graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a dual bachelor’s degree in social work and sociology and a minor in psychology. I am planning on going to grad school for a masters in social work. In the future, I hope to continue to work with people with disabilities by becoming a school social worker.
My name is Samantha Boland and I am a senior undergraduate student at Viterbo University. I am graduating in May of 2021 with a Bachelor in Science Social Work degree. My experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities began when I worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home. Currently, I nanny for a family with a child who has down syndrome. Upon graduation, I plan to attend graduate school with a medical focus. After obtaining my Master’s of Social Work I plan to become an Oncology Social Worker.
My name is Ellie Chicos and I am a student at UW-Superior. I am in the social work program for my major, along with that I am receiving a special education minor. I also work at a group home in Superior, and I genuinely love my job. After finishing my internship, I would like to work in the field of developmental disability/mental health social work.
