When: To accommodate your busy schedules we are offering the training as 2 half day seminars.  You can choose the morning seminar 8am-12pm on Tuesday and Wednesday October 23 and 24.  Or the afternoon seminar 1pm-5 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday October 23 and 24.

Topic:  The Health of the Helper—Awakening Resilience in Ourselves and Our Clients:      Burnout is a major epidemic in all fields of human service from medical professionals, to home health care workers, mental health and addiction counselors and anyone who works on the “front lines” of helping others. Towards empowering and building resilience in our local provider community, psychologist and critically acclaimed author, Joe Bailey will be presenting on resilience and burnout prevention.

Your Presenter:   Joe Bailey is a licensed psychologist, has extensive experience in his roles as a trainer, administrator, supervisor and consultant to clinics, hospitals, businesses and other government groups. He has taught at the university level at St. Mary’s University and the University of Minnesota, Center for Spirituality and Healing, Medical School and The Addictions Counselor program at Metro State University in St. Paul, MN. Joe’s work in the addictions field has included the Texas Department of Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Division as a trainer of CD counselors; Texas Commission on Alcoholism as the state prevention director of alcohol abuse and alcoholism prevention; The Johnson Institute as a trainer and coordinator the family school with Sharon Wegsheider-Cruz.  Joe has spoken to a wide range of global and national audiences with various treatment centers and professional conferences on his Principle-based approach to addiction and mental health issues. Joe’s work in resilience and burnout prevention have included many hospitals including East Lansing Healthcare Systems, North Memorial Hospital in Golden Valley, Minnesota, Inner Life of Healers Program at the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Center for Spirituality and Healing and most recently Mayo Clinic Phoenix campus. Joe is an author of six books including the best seller, Slowing Down to the Speed of Life (Harper Collins, 1997) with Dr. Richard Carlson, The Serenity Principle(Harper One, 1990, Fearproof Your Life: How to Thrive in a World Addicted to Fear (Conari Press, 2008), Slowing Down to the Speed of Love, (McGraw-Hill, 2004), The Speed Trap(Harper Collins, 1999), and his latest book Creating a Marriage You’ll Love (Sellers Publisher, 2010) (chapter contributor). He is currently writing two new books one on recovery called The Transformation Principle and the other The Burnout Solution on resilience for professionals.
