The Don Anderson Student Scholarship was created to align with national AAIDD organizational goal of increase capacity of professionals working with individuals with intellectual and development disabilities by encouraging and supporting students and Early Career Professionals.

This was named the Don Anderson Student Scholarship in honor of an esteemed AAIDD-WI board member who devoted over 4 decades of his professional career at the University of Madison, mentoring and educating students and early professionals on supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in the field of Social Work.

Throughout the years we have been honored to present this award to a number of recipients that demonstrate excellence in academic achievement and commitment to improving the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This scholarship:

  • Makes AAIDD and conference attendance more accessible and beneficial for students
  • Provides opportunities for students and early professionals to network with other professionals in the field
  • Allows students to assume leadership roles through an open invitation to participate as members of our local board

This year we are excited to share that we have awarded this scholarship to an exceptional recipient…

Sarah Hoffman, Doctoral Occupational Therapy Candidate at Mount Mary University!

AAIDD-WI is excited to support Sarah’s career endeavors as she makes her mark in this field.
